Subject: Your contribution to the first European Vocational Skills Week,

5-9 December 2016

The European Commission would like to thank you for your contribution to the first ever

European Vocational Skills Week, and for making it a successful and memorable event.

This Commission initiative aims to demonstrate the crucial role of Vocational education

and training (VET) in supporting skills, jobs, innovation and competitiveness, and for

participants to discover how they can use and improve their talents and abilities through

You helped us to mobilise more than 900 events and activities across Europe, reaching an

estimated 702,250 people. During the week in Brussels we had over 1.000 attendees

participating in various events and workshops.

This enables us to build on a firm foundation to begin planning for the next European

Vocational Skills Week. We may come back to you to learn from this years’ experience

and reflect on how best to promote the attractiveness of VET, making it a „First choice”.

I enclose a leaflet with an overview of the preliminary results of the Week.
